Is this what getting old is? Realizing how old people younger than you are?
![]() 11/13/2015 at 18:14 |

Yes.
Edit: Feel free to use “Get off my lawn” whenever you see fit.

Yep and it seems time just passes faster and faster :(

I don’t like it man, I feel like I need Werther’s Originals and early bird special buffet coupons or something.

Yep. Kids born after the Y2K scare are taking driver’s ed right now.

Im just 16 and I get that feeling sometimes.

The one that really freaks me out is that there’s kids in high school right now that were born after 9/11.
![]() 11/13/2015 at 18:27 |

That is scary. Shit I am old, I was taking about being at work on 9/11 and everyone online was taking about being kids in school
![]() 11/13/2015 at 18:27 |

Ain’t that the truth :(
![]() 11/13/2015 at 18:29 |

Mostly, yes. Another big part is hearing songs from high school days on the oldies stations.
![]() 11/13/2015 at 18:29 |

Pretty soon it will be talking about the good old days and yelling at the sky. Good times when you can act senile and no one cares.

I was a sophomore, sitting in history class on 9/11. Yeah, that makes me feel old.

Wait until you get to college dude. I’m a senior right now and freshman year seems like forever ago. Enjoy high school because after that life starts speeding up awful quick.

The thing that got me was the ‘classic rock’ station in Indy has started playing Alice in Chains. Like, I listened to them when Layne Staley was still alive.

Can confirm. I fit that description.

Also- “you call that music!?"

I was in college.

That, friend, is relativity.

God that sucks. Nirvana is not classic rock! Er, wait...they came out 25 years ago. Damn I’m old!

We were ten at the time and even some of my friends don’t even remember anything about that day. I barely recall getting to go home from school early but anything beyond that’s foggy.
![]() 11/13/2015 at 18:43 |

I was ten so I don’t have a very good recollection of 9/11 but even the fact I remember it happening makes me feel old compared to some people who don’t have any memory of it at all.
![]() 11/13/2015 at 18:44 |

Stop making me feel old dammit. And get off my lawn while you’re at it.

Cutoffs are September 1 here. Young class of 2019ers (skipped, started early, etc.) are born after 9/11.

My school district has this weird thing where a bunch of kids start kindergarten at like 4 for some reason so we’ve kind of got the same thing going on. Course that meant me and my twin brother were like two years older than some kids in our grade since we enrolled late (our cut-off was June 1st, born the 3rd, figured we’d rather be the oldest kids instead of the youngest I guess).

Beloit’s Mindset List is good for depressing you like that.

It’s pretty strange sometimes realizing that I graduated high school 25 years ago.

You realise your old when you say:-
I remember when this area was fields.
I used to play here as a kid.
That stuff these days isn’t music.
When did my childhood cinema turn into an apartment complex.
etc...
![]() 11/13/2015 at 19:59 |

Well now I feel even older...

Tell me about it.

This hits hard since my little town has begun to aggressively urbanize itself in the last few years. Seems like every time I come home from university there’s less and less of what I remember from my childhood and more shops and apartments.

It’s when they take down historic buildings and buildings from you childhood you start looking for old pictures telling yourself it was there but no one else can remember it because they never took notice of it as it was ‘just a building’. Shame.

Yep. My sister is a freshman this year and was born in May of 01, so just 4 months before

I don’t -feel-old. But the wife reminded me my son turns 30 next week. And her oldest daughter (32) likes to point out that when the Simpsons came out, she wasn’t old enough to stay up to watch it.

I gave my nephew fireworks (my default gift for 1st bday parties) for his first birthday back in 2000.
It’s not the fact that he’s turning 16 this year that makes me feel old, it’s the fact that I took fireworks to Wisconsin on the airplane.
Ah, the good old days.

Good old days indeed, but man do they seem long ago.
